Leading Legacies Benefit Students

Francis Bacon said, "Charity begins at home but should not end there."
Jonathan Green and his wife, Lynn Buck, have called Susquehanna University home since the summer of 2017 when Dr. Green became the university's 15th president. Shortly after joining the Susquehanna community, the couple decided to support SU in a very meaningful way-by establishing a planned gift through their estate. "We named Susquehanna as a primary beneficiary in our estate planning because we see our students benefit from extraordinary opportunities every day," Green said. "Susquehanna continues to build on its remarkable history of making a transformative education possible for deserving students, and we feel privileged to be a part of this noble tradition."
Melissa Komora joined Susquehanna in February 2018 as the university's new vice president for advancement. In this role, she provides strategic leadership for all aspects of the university's development and alumni engagement efforts, and serves as a member of the president's senior leadership team. Shortly after their move to the Selinsgrove area, Melissa and her husband, Ron, also made the choice to include Susquehanna in their legacy plans. "My career journey has made me a true champion of philanthropy, and making an estate gift to Susquehanna was an easy decision," Komora said. "It didn't take long for me to see all the beauty of the campus, the inspiration of the faculty, the learning spirit of the students, and the engagement of the alumni. I wanted to be a part of making sure all of those things-and more-will be supported and possible for Susquehanna's future."
The examples set by Jonathan Green and Lynn Buck, as well as Melissa and Ron Komora, are a testament to the university's remarkable leadership. Their strong examples of support have inspired numerous faculty and staff members to contribute to Susquehanna through annual and planned gifts.
They join the many alumni and friends in the John App Circle whose support is integral to the university's sustained success in the future.
